Academic and Professional Affiliations
Ms. Johnson received her undergraduate degree in early childhood and elementary
education from Purdue University and master’s degree in advanced education principles
from Northern Illinois University. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Clinical
and School Social Work from Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work.
She received numerous scholarships and grants during her academic training.
Ms. Johnson is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Illinois
Association of Social Workers, School Social Workers of America, and The Intrapsychic
Humanism Society. Ms. Johnson has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for nearly
twenty years.
Advanced Training in Inner Humanism
In her desire to take the best care of her clients, Ms. Johnson has pursued on-going
post-graduate training in Inner Humanism. Since 1993, she has been dedicated to
applying these advanced therapeutic methods in helping her clients find happiness
in their moods and feelings, in their relationships, in their careers and in education,
in their well-being, behaviors and habits and in taking care of their children.
Professional and Teaching Experience
Ms. Johnson began her career as an elementary teacher before becoming a parent.
After earning her degree in Social Work, she has been dedicated to applying the
principles of Inner Humanism: first, as a school social worker for thirteen years,
where she received a DCFS Recognition Award for Meritorious Service and a
Village Honorable Service award. She then served as a psychotherapist in several
area agencies. In addition, she was on the faculty of Loyola University Chicago
School of Social Work.
Since 1997, Ms. Johnson has dedicated herself to caring for children, teens, adults
and couples in her private practice based on Inner Humanism. She is also a full-time
psychotherapist at Smart Love Family Services. She works with people of all ages,
from young children to the elderly, as well as providing couples and parent counseling and helps supervise interns. She was involved in the initial phases and development of SLFS helping to develop and present many seminars and courses based on Smart Love
to parents and with other professionals including at a National Association of Social
Workers’ Convention and the Intrapsychic Humanism Society. She has trained and
consulted with other professionals in schools and agencies in the Inner Humanism
and Smart Love approaches. Ms. Johnson welcomes the opportunity to help you in
